Nomad Twist on a Classic: Berrylicious Pavlova!
June 1, 2024Golden Apple Tart Tatin – A Sweet September Delight for the Family!
August 20, 2024Hello, Nomad Larder family!
Get ready to make pizza night an adventure the whole family can enjoy! Imagine everyone pitching in to make fresh, homemade dough from scratch. Perfect for sunny days when everyone’s gathered together, this recipe is all about creating fun memories (and delicious pizzas!). Let's get started!
What you'll need...
For Pizza Dough:
- 800g Grano Tenero pizza flour (look for it at Nomad Larder!)
- 200g fine semolina
- 30g fresh yeast
- 30g salt
- 100ml cold-pressed rapeseed oil
- 550ml warm water
- 20g sugar
Let's Get Cooking!
1. Mixing the Magic!
In a big mixing bowl, combine the flour, semolina, salt, and sugar. Make a little "well" in the middle — like digging a hole at the beach! This will hold the wet ingredients, just like building sandcastles but for pizza dough.
2. Wake Up the Yeast!
Stir the yeast into the warm water and add the rapeseed oil. Let it sit for about 5 minutes so the yeast can wake up and get bubbly. This is like giving your dough a jumpstart!
3. Bring it Together!
Pour the yeast mixture into the well in your flour bowl and start mixing everything together. Soon enough, you’ll see a soft dough forming, which you can gather into a ball. Cover the dough with a cloth and let it sit somewhere warm to double in size — it’s like letting it grow in the sun!
4. Portion & Roll the Dough Balls!
Once the dough has risen, sprinkle flour on your surface, and turn the dough out gently. Divide the dough into 200g pieces, which are like little “pizza pucks.” Here’s the fun part: shape each puck into a round ball by cupping your hands around it and rolling in a circular motion. Everyone can join in to help make these dough balls!
5. Trap the Air for a Light Crust!
Remember, you don’t need to knead the dough — just shape the balls gently so the dough stays airy and light. You can pop these dough balls into the fridge overnight (they’ll taste even better this way!), or if you’re ready to cook right away, let the dough rest for a bit.
6. Time to Shape Your Pizzas!
Flour your surface and the top of each dough ball, and then press a little mound in the centre. This will start to form the edges of your pizza crust. From here, stretch the dough outward, making sure to keep that puffy edge intact. Get everyone in on the action — shaping the pizzas is a blast, especially when you can make them as big or small as you like!
7. Top and Cook!
Now’s the time to add everyone’s favourite toppings! Customize each pizza with fresh ingredients, then bake according to your oven's settings, whether it’s a convection oven or a pizza oven.
Enjoy these pizzas in the backyard with the summer sun on your faces and lots of smiles 😊 Enjoy those delicious family-made pizzas, and may they bring lots of laughter and fun memories. Happy cooking! 🍕🌞
